News & Information About Your Consumer-Owned Utility.

Win an ENERGY STAR Appliance

The Northwest is faced with some serious power supply problems this summer which may lead to rolling blackouts. To encourage our residential customers to reduce their electricity usage, Salem Electric has implemented the Residential Conservation Incentive Program. Residential members can win a $500 or $1,000 credit toward an ENERGY STAR electric appliance.

All you need to do is reduce your electricity usage by 10% or 20% in a given calendar quarter to be eligible to win one of the credits. Just follow these simple rules:

  • Must be a current Salem Electric customer.
  • Two $1,000 credits (for achieving 20% savings) and two $500 credits (for achieving 10% savings) are available each calendar quarter.
  • Participants' names will be randomly drawn. The 10% or 20% savings will be verified against the same calendar quarter in the previous year.
  • Participants must have been a member at the same address since June 1, 2000.

Unfortunately, at the time of printing, Salem Electric had not received the final information from the Bonneville Power Administration as to what the Fall 2001 rate increase will be.
The retail level that would effect our customers could range anywhere from 25% to 125%. Remember to contact our Member Services Department about conservation opportunities.
